Weslo Treadmill Review

This Weslo Treadmill Review includes details on Icon Health and Fitness (Weslo's manufacturing company), features, and pricing of Weslo treadmills. Keep reading for more on the features of Weslo treadmills such as iFit compatibility, digital speed control, and more.

Weslo treadmills are manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness. Icon also produces products for other reputed brands like NordicTrack, Proform, Image and Reebok. Weslo treadmills are some of the most popular treadmills on the market, most often due to their low price tag.

Icon Health and Fitness was started in 1977 by two college students looking to finance their education. They began an importing business which they called Weslo and sold many products including wood burning stoves. When the fitness craze of the 1980s was kicked off, the founders entered the market with a trampoline. From that modest beginning, Weslo expanded to include treadmills, home gyms, exercise bikes, and rowing machines. Following a merger with Weider in 1988, the company was eventually renamed Icon Health and Fitness, with Welso becoming just a product line within the larger company.

Weslo products are basic entry-level machines designed for light use and wear. If you are a serious runner or plan to use your machine heavily, you'd probably want to opt for a moderate or high priced machine. Otherwise, Weslo treadmills are a good buy if you want a machine for light walking and jogging.

Despite their low price tag, Weslo treadmills often come with premium features. Priced as low as $99, some of Welso's lowest priced models come with an incline feature, which is more often seen on higher priced machines. Welso machines often also come with features such as digital speed control, cushioned decks, accurate heart rate monitors, iFit compatibility, and large and easily read consoles.

Though there are many plusses to Weslo treadmills, there are a few drawbacks. One of the reasons the Weslo products can be priced so low is because they use lower quality parts and components - and as a result of this, Welso only offers a three month warranty on most of their treadmills. Anytime there is this low of a price and this short of a warranty, long term reliability should be a concern.

All that said, Weslo treadmills are still a very good deal for the money. For example, the Welso Cardio Stride Plus is currently on sale for $199 with free shipping. This model comes with 3-Position Manual incline with which you can adjust the incline from 13-20% to ramp up your daily workout. To further increase the effectiveness of your workouts, the Weslo Cardio Stride has a dual flywheel that provides a smooth, natural motion of the tread belt. The Cardio Stride Plus also has a large LCD display that provides valuable feedback while you're exercising, such as speed and distance. Another great feature of this machine is that is offers SpaceSaver Design, which allows you to fold the running deck up and out of the way when not in use.
