PaceMaster Treadmill

This PaceMaster treadmill review provides information on Aerobics, Inc., it's manufacturer, as well as pricing, warranty, and pros and cons of PaceMaster Treadmills. Specifics on the PaceMaster Bronze, and basics on the PaceMaster Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

PaceMaster is one of the few treadmill brands that are still manufactured in the United States. PaceMaster has been making treadmills since the 1968. The PaceMaster brand is owned and manufactured by Aerobics, Inc. Aerobics, Inc. was founded by Bill Staub, who was one of the most influential people in the development of treadmills.

PaceMaster products are moderately priced machines that provide worry-free performance and high quality components. Recently, however, PaceMaster has attempted to price their machines more competitively and as such as made some compromises with their components. Even so, PaceMaster still produces a reliable and relatively low maintenance machine. PaceMaster treadmills are in the moderate-high price range and are usually priced from $1,700 to $2,300. Most of the newer models are on the lower end of their price range.

One testament to the reliability of PaceMaster treadmills is their fantastic warranty. Most models come with a lifetime warranty on the frame, 12 year warranty on the motor, five years on parts and a year for labor. However, one of the biggest weaknesses of the PaceMaster line is that some of their lower priced machines have stability issues. A big reason for this is that PaceMaster uses aluminum frames, which makes the treadmills lighter and leads to instability.

In spite of any stability issues, PaceMaster treadmills are still a great buy. PaceMaster has maintained an unwavering focus on quality over quantity and style. While other manufacturers spend lots of money and effort trying to incorporate new designs and features, PaceMaster has instead focused on keeping their machines high on quality and low on gimmicks.

PaceMaster treadmills come in four "levels" - Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. These levels then are split into two groups based on their deck length. The Bronze and Silver have a 54" running surface, while the Gold and Platinum have a 60" surface.

The PaceMaster Bronze treadmill, for example, is easy to use and offers you the ability to create your own workout programs. As it is on the low end of the PaceMaster range, the Bronze doesn't come with any heart rate monitoring and has been criticized for being unstable. Nonetheless, the PaceMaster Bronze treadmill is a high quality machine that includes the most important features that will prolong the life of your machine.
