Proform 400 Review This Proform 400 review will offer pros and cons of the Proform 400 GL treadmill. Keep reading for more information on the key features of this Proform treadmill such as, PowerIncline control, EKG grip pulse sensors, iFIT personal training, warranty, and more. The Proform 400 GL treadmill features much of what you would expect from a Proform brand treadmill, such as a heavy-duty motor that can sustain speeds up to 10 miles per hour. Premium features like the powerful motor deliver a challenging workout for everyone from beginners to seasoned treadmill users. This treadmill is in the low-moderate price range and is usually priced around $700-$900. In addition to the powerful motor, the Proform 400 GL also features “QuickSpeed” control technology that will allow you to make adjustments to your speed with the touch of a button as you workout. The 400 GL also has an incline feature that can also be modified with the touch of a button. Both the speed and incline features give you control over your workout and allow you to maximize the results you get from your treadmill. These two features are controlled through the backlit display console, which also features six pre-programmed workouts, a “carb counter” and is iFit compatible. The iFit technology keeps your workouts exciting and interesting by allowing you to constantly vary your exercise program. IFit uses CDs and internet downloads to automatically control the speed, incline and/or resistance of your treadmill. An iFit compatible machine is a wise investment as it can continually be updated with new workouts that provide motivation, feedback and fitness personalization and coaching. You can choose iFit workouts that meet your specific fitness goals and, as a bonus, an iFit certified personal trainer designed the workout and guides you through it. It truly gives you a gym experience, only better! To further enhance your workouts, the 400 GL comes with two and three pound hand weights. The use of hand weights will add upper body exercise to your workout, increasing the amount of calories you burn and sculpting your arms. For those who have limited space at home, the Proform 400 GL is a “space saver” treadmill which means that when not in use, you can simply fold up the machine for easy, out of the way storage. In spite of all of the pros of the 400 GL, there are a few important cons of this model. The 400 GL has a mediocre warranty (three years on motor and 90 days on parts and labor) which should be somewhat of a red flag regarding the quality of parts and components used. The tread belt of the Proform 400 GL is rather small at only 50” x 17” - this size would be uncomfortable for even some average size men and women. There is also a lack of deck cushioning on this machine, which can become a problem for your joints even when you workout on the treadmill a couple of times a week. These drawbacks considered, the Proform 400 GL is probably not a wise choice for those looking for a treadmill for heavy use and/or if you’re tall, have long legs, a long stride, or any knee or ankle issues. Recommended: No. In spite of all the great features, the warranty and tread belt size just don’t cut it. Related Article: Proform 625 Treadmill >> |
