Cybex products include steppers, treadmills, stationary bicycles in upright and recumbent riding positions, and strength-training equipment that includes selected or manually loaded weights designed for constant resistance. All of the company’s products are sold under the Cybex, Trotter and Eagle brand names.

Cybex International, Inc. is a public company headquartered in Medway, Massachusetts, that has about 450 employees and annual sales of roughly $85.2 million. Cybex designs and manufactures high end fitness equipment that provides biomechanically correct movements so there is minimal impact on the body of the user as well as maximum ease of use.

The company began to reorganize in the late 1980s, creating separate medical and fitness divisions as well as a new customer relations department. The medical and fitness divisions each had their own marketing and product development programs. New products introduced in the late 1980s included a stationary bicycle, a rowing machine and an upper-body ergometer for the measurement of upper body performance. Th company also debuted the MET series, a line of video-based, computer controlled exercise machines, as well as Cybex Strength Systems, a line of free weight exercise machines. The company’s international presence expanded during this time, with sales agents in more than 40 countries.

Moving into the 1990s, Lumex developed two new stationary bicycles and two home strength-training systems. The company also opened a new research and development facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado, choosing this location because of its concentration of athletics-oriented organizations, including the Olympic Training Center. Lumex’s customers included hospital physical therapy departments, physical therapists in private practice, medical research laboratories, sports medicine clinics, professional sports organizations, fitness centers, and individual consumers. Lumex introduced its first treadmill called "The Mill" in 1995. This machine featured the Cybex Controlled Impact System with nine settings that accommodated for level of stringency in relation to the user's stride, weight and fitness. A financial services corporation was also formed at this time to provide equipment financing to customers within the United States.

Cybex and the Trotter fitness equipment company merged in 1997. Trotter was started in 1973 when engineer Edward Trotter began providing customized treadmills for the consumer market in Boston, Massachusetts. By 1987, Trotter had 65 employees, 150 sales agents nationwide, and a 70,000 square foot storage facility. In 1990, Trotter treadmills were rated the best in a market research survey. The Trotter company introduced its tenth generation of treadmills in 1992. The merger made Cybex the only company with a comprehensive line of cardiovascular and strength training fitness equipment needed to fully outfit a fitness center. It also combined Cybex's reputation in the commercial market with Trotter's name recognition in the consumer market. Cybex acquired another fitness equipment company, Tectrix, in the years following.

A website was launched in early 2000 that offered online shopping and customer support, as well as training tips, news and articles on human athletic performance. Cybex also introduced a number of new products this year and, in spite of their success, the company experienced a 30 percent decline in sales. In response to this, Cybex restructured its executive offices and manufacturing facilities.
