The Nordic Track EXP 2000 treadmill comes with a 1.75 HP continuous-duty motor, which allows it to reach a speed of up to 10mph.  The treadmill also comes with an extra large 20" x 55" belt, which should be large enough for almost anyone to run or walk on.

Additionally, the patented DuraSoft™ shock absorption provides superior comfort. This durable isolator cushioning absorbs impact as your foot makes contact with the treadbelt, and as a result the important connective tissues of your ankles, knees and hip joints are more protected.  Never underestimate the value of shock absorption and protecting your joints.  This feature alone is worth the somewhat higher cost of the NordicTrack EXP 2000.

Another handy feature, the CardioGrip™ Pulse Sensor, allows you to easily workout in your target heart rate zone and monitor your heart rate. You simply grip the handrail for instant and you’ll see accurate heart rate data show up on the control panel, so you can have a more effective workout. The NordicTrack EXP 2000 treadmill also has 9 programmed workouts and you can connect it to www.ifit.com for additional workouts.

Going back to comfort, the EXP 2000 comes with many premium features including a book rest, a water bottle holder, a place for weights, and a large easy to navigate control panel.  From the control panel you can set your workout preferences, use the one-touch speed adjustment, and modify the incline.  The one-touch feature is particularly nice as it allows you to change settings with a touch of your finger – you don’t have to press and hold down buttons.  This means you can slow down quickly without having to stop completely or go straight to your comfortable speed without having to push the up arrow and go up 1/10th of a mile per hour at a time until you get there.

Another pro of the NordicTrack EXP 2000 is that it is an incredibly quiet machine.  The continuous motor system produces very little noise.  Many people underestimate how important a quiet machine can be.  One can very quickly become annoyed with a noisy treadmill.

One con of the NordicTrack EXP 2000 is that they have a history of end cap problems.  The caps holding the belt on become broken and as a result you’re unable to adjust the belt without it slipping.  Luckily an issue like this, if it does come up, is easy to fix.  A simple call to NordicTrack or the retailer where you purchased the machine and you should have replacement caps in no time.

The NordicTrack EXP 2000 is also easy to assemble and takes up little space thanks to the SpaceSaver® Fold Away feature.  If assembly is offered by your retailer, we would suggest you skip it to save yourself the cost, unless you absolutely don’t feel comfortable setting it up yourself.  An extra set of hands is always helpful, so be sure to ask a friend or family member to be there to assist.  Once you have your treadmill set-up, you can easily fold it away when not in use.  This is an extremely convenient premium feature not available in all treadmills, particularly at this price.

Bottom line, the NordicTrack EXP 2000 will provide you with a fantastic workout.  This treadmill, unlike some more cheaply priced competition, cushions your stride, allows for a moderate incline, and offers programmable workouts so you are able to get the most out of your run or walk.  The EXP 2000 is built with an incredibly sturdy frame and with high quality parts, most importantly a quality motor and deck.

Price-wise, the NordicTrack EXP 2000 is in the middle range, usually on sale for roughly $1,299 (MRSP $2,600).  If price is a concern, the NordicTrack EXP 1000 comes with many of the same features, the same frame and size, though it has a bit less motor power and fewer programmed workout options.

Do we recommend the NordicTrack EXP 2000: Yes.
